The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
September 13-14, 2025
Today we celebrate The Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Today’s feast commemorates the veneration and triumph of the cross, a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice, victory over sin and death, and ultimate redemption for humanity. The readings begin on page 212.
Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Salvador Mendez Gonzalez,Lovelynn McNew, Amanda Martinez, Nancy Forch, Steve Sheppard, Ernie Saldana, Lupe Martinez, Bill and Cookie Spivey, Jim and Debbie Benjamin, and Jim and Kay Brown, Loretta Alt and all those listed in our weekly parish bulletin.
The next Coffee and Rosary will be Tuesday, September 16 at 9:15 in the Parish Hall. Everyone is invited to attend.
Children’s Faith Formation classes begin on Wednesday, September 17 at 5PM in the parish hall. If you have not yet registered your children, you may do that between 4:30-5 on Wednesday. Fees are $25 per child or $50 for families of 3 or more children.
Each Sunday, we would like for students to sign in when they attend Mass. There is a sheet at the back of the church. Incentives will be given for Mass attendance.
Adult Classes with Thomas Baldwin also begin on September 17. There has been a change in the schedule. OCIA will begin at 5 PM in the Rectory Living room. Bible study will follow at 6:15.
St. Anthony’s Parish Council is placing the parish farm up for bid. Details can be found on the parish website listed on the front of the bulletin. The bid period ends on September 25.
The Annual Diocesan Appeal is now underway. If you did not receive a pledge card in the mail, pledge cards can be found in the pews. Please place your pledge card in the offertory basket or mail directly to the Diocese. Our goal this year has gone up to $19,787.
St. Vincent de Paul will be collecting loose change following Mass today.

Adult Classes with Thomas Baldwin begin on September 17
Armageddon, 666, the mark of the beast.
Adult Classes with Thomas Baldwin will begin on Wednesday,September 17 not the 10th as announced last week.. Adult sessions will be held in the rectory living room. You can enter through the front door.
Armageddon, 666, the mark of the beast. The adult Bible study will be going through the last book of the Bible, Revelation, starting September 17 at 5PM. Join us to go through this exciting and confusing book of the Bible.

Schlarman Golf Outing
The 16th Annual Schlarman Golf Outing is Sat. Sept. 20. Shotgun Start at 9am and Registration 8am. This will take place at Danville Country Club. For more info call 217-448-7784.
Danville Area Wome Connect
The next meeting of Danville Area Women Connect will be at St. Anthony on Oct. 25 from 9am to 11 am. Anyone who has question can contact Linda Nicholls at 217- 260-4599.

CCD Classes will begin on Wednesday, September 10 at 5pm with opening Mass, registration and meal

A special welcome to Father Leonard Mutesigwa from Tanzania who is our guest at St. Anthony’s for the next several weeks. We are glad to have you here Father Leonard!

Sunday after Mass we will be celebrating Father Ignatius’ 36th Anniversary of his Ordination! Please join us for breakfast following the 9 am mass.
If you missed out on Directory photos earlier this summer, you will have an opportunity to have photos taken on Sunday, September 7 after mass.
Families, please join us for our opening CCD Mass, Meal and registration on Wednesday, September 10 at 5PM. All children Kindergarten-8th grade and their families are welcome. Spanish Mass
There will be a Spanish mass each month on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 11AM with Father Ted as the celebrant.


Coffee & Rosary
The next Coffee & Rosary will be Tuesday Aug. 19 at 9:15 am in the Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to participate with us. There will be light refreshments.

The Vermilion County Catholic Vicariate is holding its Vermilion County Catholic Golf Scramble on Sunday, Aug. 3 at Wolf Creek Golf Club with a 1 pm shot-gun start. Please call 217-446-1025 if you are interested in golfing.

If you were out of town when parish photos were taken in June, there will be another opportunity in late August or early September. More information to come.
Father Ignatius and the parish council would like to thank everyone for all of their help with making the Bishop’s visit a great success. Thanks to the choir, the technology committee, the altar servers, the special events committee and all the volunteers who made the church and hall property beautiful, the food preparers, the servers, the clean up crew, and everyone else who contributed in any way.
If you had a photograph with Bishop Tylka last week, you can contact Debbie in the office and she will see that you receive it.
The Mass on Thursday, July 31 will be at 8AM instead of 8:30. There will be Adoration as usual.
Men's Cursillo

Bishop Luis Tylka Celebrates Mass and Luncheon
Bishop Luis Tylka will be coming to St Anthony’s to celebrate Mass on Sunday, July 20th. Please join us for this special opportunity. Mass will be followed by a luncheon. Let us pack the hall! Let us show Bishop Tylka that our church is growing and we are grateful to retain our church under the new diocese re-organization plan.

Parish Cleanup Day
We have changed our clean up day from July 12 to Friday, July 18 at 9AM. If you are available to help that day, please join us for a few hours.

Fulton J. Sheen Family Day
SheenFamilyDay — Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation Teach our kids about our faith through the footsteps of venerable Fulton J. Sheen. Saturday, July 12 9am to 12 pm at the Cathederal of Saint Mary and Spalding Pastoral Center, Peoria, IL 11:30 Holy Mass Celebrated by Bishop Louis Tylka.

The next Parish Council meeting will be Thurs. July 3 at 6 pm at the Parish Hall. All Parishioners are welcome to attend.
Catholic Night Out
There will be a Catholic Night Out with the Danville Dans on July 1 with rain date being July 3. This open to all Catholics in Vermilion County.
